This event started in 1995 and has been a very successful, friendly, sociable and welcoming mine of information to the general public ever since. Anybody is welcome to bring in specimens for ID or for discussion, stalls are available either for non -commercial displays or for dealers. The main balance is roughly half and half with the emphasis on non -commercial activities. Societies taking part include Dorset RIGS, Weymouth College, Southampton Mineral and Fossil Society, Southampton Geology Field Study Group,
and the Open University.
Members are encouraged to mount displays to show their particular interests and many play a regular part in the day. Others assist with arrangements and altogether, more than half of our members are involved one way or another. Admission to the general public is £1.00 for adults, children are free and are made most welcome. The hall is wheelchair friendly, there is plenty of (paying) parking and the hall has a cafe in the foyer.
